FIEND RECORDINGS  is a Vancouver-based collective of recording engineers, producers and songwriters who are addicted to making music. The foremost goal of any project we undertake is to work with you, the artist, to capture the best possible representation of your craft. Whether that means simple and tasteful touches or balls-to-the-wall psychedelia, we believe in the intrinsic link between quality and individuality.

Cody profileCody Taylor

Cody is a music industry professional who, before venturing out west, held the position of House Engineer at Will Haas’ Willyboy Recordings in London, Ontario. While there, he had the privilege of working with Kevin Doyle (Anne Murray, Hall & Oates) as his assistant engineer, along with many other talented artists. Cody holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in Music Administrative Studies, Music Theory, Composition, and Audio Engineering.  After receiving his degree, Cody attended Fanshawe College’s Music lndustry Arts Program, intensifying his love for production and allowing him the opportunity to mentor under some of the ìndustry’s top Producer /Engineers including; Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Warne Livesey (Midnight Oil, Matthew Good Band), and Shawn Cole (Bend Sinister, Yukon Blonde).


Ben profileBen Rowley

Ben began his career in music at age 5, taking RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) training in piano and eventually guitar with Canadian jazz icon Gordon Grdina. He went on to front influential Vancouver rock group Free City Collective for nearly a decade and currently provides keyboards for Fox Seeds Platinum Winners Pigeon Park, plays drums and twists knobs for the psychedelia soaked No Century and is working on a full length LP titled Waveracer. Ben joined Fiend Recordings after attending and subsequently working for the Nimbus School of Recording Arts, allowing him to hone his production insights and collaborate with some of Vancouver’s finest young talent.

Tim Rannard

Tim joined Fiend Recordings following 2 years working as a technician at the Nimbus School of Recording Arts and a part-time management gig at The Farm Studios, a satellite recording studio/classroom on the Sunshine Coast.   Tim also brings 21 years of experience as a professional musician, touring much of North America and playing in some of Vancouver’s most illustrious studios. As our in-house Digital Audio Engineer, his contribution to the team is integral; whether he’s laying down drums on a track, tweaking a preamp, meticulously working in post-production or making our snares sound amazing, Tim always gives it his all.


Dave profileDave Charbula

Dave got his first taste in sound design at high school, graduating with Top Student honours from the coveted Recording Arts Program at Terry Fox. He is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist who applies both rational concept and free-formed harmony to his technique, making him one of Vancouver’s most daring new songwriters and a valuable asset to any production. He is the primary songwriter and front man for Chimpanzebras and tours/records extensively as a session vocalist, with Rifflandia and Live At Squamish among his recent performance highlights. Aside from producing Chimpanzebras’ first EP and sophomore LP, Dave has produced and engineered low-fi synth-punk outfit Fish Hook, co-writes and produces with Waveracer and is currently working on his first solo EP.
